Planning approval has been granted for the transformation of Custom House, a Grade I listed Georgian building. Working with Jastar Capital, Orms, Richard Griffiths Architects, Montagu Evans, and the City of London Corporation.

Formerly the headquarters of BP, and more recently John Lewis; 171 Victoria Street was designed and oriented around a single occupier. MI was engaged by Savills to conduct a thorough Pre-Demolition Audit to capture all materials left on site, and assess the reusability.

British Land requested an enhanced pre-demolition audit of a retail site in Surrey Quays. Material Index conducted a full site survey of the retail spaces through the Material Index platform. Archival information was reviewed to complete in-depth structural review.

Working closely with Derwent London, Material Index have been involved from Stage 2 through to Stage 4. The online material management has allowed tenants and the building owner to explore portfolio reuse opportunities.

1 Appold Street, an office building from the late 1980s in the Broadgate Estate, was undergoing a strip-out as part of an extensive commercial redevelopment. Material Index conducted a thorough pre-demolition audit, creating a detailed asset register.

Mansfield College, Oxford is one of the constituent colleges of the University of Oxford. Feilden Fowles has been appointed as lead designer working alongside development partner Stories to address the estate and the needs of students and teaching staff. Material Index completed a PDA which included landscape and the existing buildings to assist with the College’s ambitious sustainability targets.

Material Index completed a PRDA which aided the successful planning application for the Bromley by Bow Industrial Park. The existing site comprises 14 individual building structures, estimated to date between the late 1970s and early 2010s. The aim of the project is to deliver high quality, modern industrial buildings that intensify industrial floorspace on this underutilised site.
