Material Index was appointed by Wright & Wright Architects on behalf of Science Museum Group to audit Gallery 6, the Exploring Space Gallery, ahead of its refurbishment. The audit captured 97.8 tonnes of material, from timber stud walls and a steel-framed replica Apollo Lunar Module to display cases and specialist lighting. 21% by weight was designated for reuse on or off site, rated excellent against the Material Index benchmark.
