De La Warr Pavilion.

A Pre-Demolition Audit of the Grade I listed De La Warr Pavilion, with 84% of its material designated for retention.

Material Index prepared a Pre-Demolition Audit of the De La Warr Pavilion in Bexhill-on-Sea for Rider Levett Bucknall, ahead of the extensive repair, refurbishment and extension of the Grade I listed 1930s building designed by Erich Mendelsohn and Serge Chermayeff. The audit identified 4,519 tonnes of material, with 84% designated for retention and a 95-98% diversion from landfill target. Key opportunities included on-site reuse of steel, glass, stone flooring and sanitaryware, with the external railings to be refurbished and reused on site.
